Change is clearly coming to the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive staff, and this time it’s confirmed. After being told on Tuesday that his role would change, OC Kevin Patullo now finds himself in an interesting position, and the Eagles find themselves in an even more interesting one.

Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia listed 11 coordinators who could fit the Eagles, and there are some intriguing options.

Zangaro named Mike McDaniel as a potential option after the Eagles decided to move on from Patullo.

“Mike McDaniel: The former Dolphins head coach has been garnering more head coaching interest after getting fired by Miami. But if the 42-year-old doesn’t land a head coaching gig, he could be a really intriguing candidate who comes from the Shanahan coaching tree.

“In his four seasons as the Dolphins head coach, McDaniel had a 35-33 record and was fired after a 7-10 campaign in 2025. Before taking the job in Miami, McDaniel was run game coordinator and offensive coordinator for five seasons under Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. Vic Fangio was McDaniel’s DC in Miami in 2023, so it’s unclear how that dynamic would play in Philly,” he wrote.

The Eagles’ offense became very predictable all season, and whatever Patullo’s adjusted role ultimately looks like, it’s clear the organization won’t have him running the offense.

Bringing in someone with McDaniel’s background would be an absolute home run hire.

The Eagles have talent that fits a motion-heavy, spacing-heavy system built around misdirection and run-game creativity.

Of course, there are questions. McDaniel was just fired by the Miami Dolphins after a 7-10 season, and there were times when the Dolphins' offense wasn't exactly perfect. However, the Eagles have a lot more talent on that side of the football.

McDaniel may not want to sit out a year, and coordinator opportunities with a Super Bowl-caliber roster aren’t anything to take lightly.

Whether McDaniel is realistic or not remains to be seen, but many are considering him the top offensive mind on the market this offseason. We'll see whether that means he ends up in Philadelphia or has another opportunity to be a head coach elsewhere.
