MADISON – This time the lead stood.
One day after it gave back a three-goal lead, the Wisconsin men’s hockey team completed a sweep of Notre Dame, 5-4, Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Kohl Center.
Senior forward Christian Fitzgerald scored the game-winner with about 10 minutes left in the third period. The UW defense did the rest, turning back six shots on goal during the remainder of the game.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe victory gave the Badgers a season sweep of the Fighting Irish in what was a prolific four-game run. Wisconsin scored 27 goals in the four contests and never had fewer than five in any contest.
Saturday, five players finished with one goal and 10 had a point. Seniors Ben Dexheimer (one goal, one assist) and Simon Tassy (one goal, one assist) and juniors Quinn Finley (one goal, one assist) and Joe Palodichuk (two assists) had multi-point goals for Wisconsin.
