With the Super Bowl just days away, the NFL has begun handing out its annual awards — and a Texas A&M Hall of Famer once again proved he’s the most dominant force on his side of the ball.
On Thursday night, Myles Garrett was officially named the 2026 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, the second DPOY honor of his career after first winning the award in 2023. The nine‑year veteran delivered a season for the ages, headlined by breaking the single‑season sack record with 23, surpassing T.J. Watt and Michael Strahan.

He added an AFC Defensive Player of the Month award (November), earned his seventh Pro Bowl, and secured his fifth First‑Team All‑Pro nod — all before turning 30.
Cleveland didn’t have much to celebrate this season, but they did get to witness one of their own make history. And now, they get to watch him take home one of the league’s most prestigious honors, cementing yet another chapter in one of the greatest defensive careers ever produced by Texas A&M.
